Toriyama should do more Dr. Slump, if only because Arale is adorable.

Also, we got a Dirty Pair reboot and it was terrible. Although one like the movie and OVAs would be nice. I’m afraid it would either hugely ramp up the fanservice or make them moe. Or both *shudder*

Uuuuuuugh. I meant a reboot that would be tolerable unlike that schlock known as “Flash.” A new Dirty Pair that keeps the style and the charm of the original movie and OVAs would be amazing.

Although seeing how this is current day anime we’re talking about, making the show super fanservice-y wouldn’t be that much of a surprise to me.

As for Toriyama, I just want something different. If it HAS to be Shonen, I’d like to see a Tobal No.1 series or something along those lines. Or if it HAS to be Dragon Ball related, I’d like to see some of the lesser celebrated characters get their own spin offs. Videl in a slice of life show? Krillin in a sitcom-esque series? Anybody?

The franchise technically hasn’t gone anywhere considering the abundance of TV specials, movies and 3 games that are released yearly.

Don’t get me wrong, I do love/appreciate DB and how it laid the foundation for most Shonen to come after it. I just don’t feel like there’s much left to do with the DB franchise to keep it fresh and interesting.

I also feel like the franchise itself gets tarnished if it’s constantly keeps popping back up after it was supposed to end. It’s like how Hulk Hogan constantly comes back to wrestling after claiming to retire. You still admire him but you start to lose some respect after as many times as he returns and then doesn’t really do anything with it.

I’d be more stoked if Toriyama had said he was working on a brand new franchise. Maybe a murder mystery anime? A comedic, romance/harem show perhaps? A psychological thriller?

Once again, I’m not bashing Dragon Ball the franchise or Toriyama. DBZ was a good 65% of my childhood and I really enjoy the original Dragon Ball (I have all of the original DB in DVD). I just feel like legend should be able to die a legend instead of being repeatedly resurrected.

Let the newer Shonen series have their time to shine like Toriko for example.

Not to mention, I would like to see something different from Toriyama. I know DBZ is his bread & butter and an easy cash cow but it would nice/refreshing to see to something new from the man. I know he’s got the talent.

P.S. If there is any anime from the 80s that deserves modern day reboot, it’s Dirty Pair. I’m just sayin’.
